More About Me
Professional Background

I am a Licensed Mental Health Associate (LMHCA), license #MC61484516. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. The Townsend Institute was founded by John Townsend (author of Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life). Here, I learned to integrate faith into psychotherapy holistically. I have worked in private practice for several years and am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
My Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded primarily in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and attachment-focused therapy, helping clients understand the deeper emotional patterns that shape how they relate to themselves, others, and God. Our earliest relationships influence how we experience trust, emotional safety, connection, and belonging. Over time, we develop protective parts that help us survive pain, shame, fear, or overwhelm — even when those strategies later leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or reactive.

I believe healing happens through compassionate curiosity, emotional processing, and safe connection. Together, we’ll gently explore the parts of you that carry pain or protection while helping you move toward greater self-understanding, emotional regulation, and more secure relationships. My attachment lens is heavily influenced by Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which emphasizes healing through emotionally attuned and secure relationships. Drawing from attachment theory, neuroscience, and experiential approaches to healing, I help clients create lasting change at both emotional and relational levels.

In our sessions, you can expect a warm, collaborative space where your inner world is approached with care, curiosity, and respect. I pay close attention not only to your thoughts and behaviors, but also to the deeper emotional and relational dynamics unfolding beneath the surface. Through insight, attuned connection, and practical tools, we’ll work toward healing old patterns and helping you experience greater freedom, wholeness, and connection.

My Story

I have been where you are. Several years ago, I reached a place of deep despair, depression, and hopelessness. My marriage was struggling, and I found myself wrestling with frustration toward God, the church, and even my own story. It took reaching a crisis point for me to finally seek help.
Through both individual and couples therapy, I experienced firsthand the difficult, courageous work of facing emotional pain, understanding the deeper roots beneath my struggles, and learning new ways of relating to myself and others. I know what it is like to sit on the other side of the therapy room — to feel overwhelmed, guarded, uncertain, and yet deeply in need of healing and connection. Over time, therapy became a place where hope slowly began to emerge and lasting change became possible.

My own healing journey ultimately led me to pursue further education and training to become a mental health counselor so I could walk alongside others in their own process of healing and transformation.

My husband and I have been married for 23 years and have two children and three dogs. We are actively involved with our church community. After nearly two decades serving in children’s and youth work, my focus now is serving on my church’s mental health team and helping foster greater understanding, compassion, and support around emotional and relational health within the church community.
